Hot Over 50!
The astrological secret to sexy and ageless
by Cortney Litwin
What keeps a woman sexy well into her 50s, 60s and beyond? Astrologically, Uranus is the planet of attraction. Uranus and its sign, Aquarius, also rule originality, curiosity and innovation. When Uranian energy is strong in a chart, the person not only has a crackling charisma, but stays mentally active and young at heart.
Another youthful marker is the element of earth. Tauruses, Capricorns and Virgos often age gracefully because these signs are physical. Earth signs are in tune with their bodies, which is an incentive to adopt a healthy lifestyle. And of course, being physically fit is attractive.
So what do award-winning actors Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon and Meryl Streep have in common? Not surprising, all share strong Uranian/Aquarian traits as well as earth elements in their charts.
Diane Keaton: earthy and eccentric Born on January 4, 1946, Diane Keaton has Sun and Venus in Capricorn and Moon in Aquarius. Capricorn rules longevity, which certainly describes her more than 35-year film career and her staying power as an intelligent, sexy on-screen presence (at 57, she pulled off a nude scene in the romantic comedy Something's Gotta Give, looking fabulous!). Her Moon in Aquarius keeps her young and says she has an unconventional side. Her quirky Aquarius personality was especially evident in the 1977 film Annie Hall, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress. Also, with typical Aquarius fascination for all things different, Keaton was linked romantically in 2005 to actor Keanu Reeves, who is 18 years her junior.
Additionally, Keaton's Moon is influenced by Uranus, heightening her individuality, charisma and desire to trailblaze outside the box. Her Capricorn nature indicates she'll grow old with grace, but her Aquarius side says she'll outshine the usual conventional typecasting for mature actors.
Susan Sarandon: classic beauty Susan Sarandon was born on October 4, 1946. She not only shares Keaton's year of birth, but her Capricorn energy as well, having Moon and ascendant in that earth sign. Actually, her ascendant is on the cusp of Capricorn and Aquarius, so her persona has both the sensual and earthy traits of the goat and the eccentric, rebellious traits of Aquarius. Heightening her allure is her Sun and Neptune conjunct in Libra, the sign of classic beauty. The Neptune influence gives her a deeply empathetic nature with the ability to step into the psyches of the characters she portrays. The sultry actress was nominated five times for an Academy Award, finally winning the award for Best Actress for her role in the 1995 film Dead Man Walking. Off-screen, true to her Libra nature, Sarandon is an outspoken advocate of human rights, raising the hackles of many conservatives. As for her obvious sex appeal, the sensuality of her Moon and ascendant in Capricorn is intensified by her Venus and Mars in Scorpio, which amps up her passion and magnetism - which is surely appreciated by her long-time (younger!) partner, actor Tim Robbins.
Meryl Streep: grand dame Anyone who thinks Meryl Streep is a typical Cancer may be in for a surprise. Born on June 22, 1949, Streep has Sun and Venus in Cancer, which would ordinarily mean she's a nurturing homebody whose life revolves around her family. However, a zero-degree conjunction between Sun and Uranus lifts her watery Cancer nature into the airy, dazzling realm of Uranus-ruled Aquarius. Family may be important to her, but her Uranian brilliance has launched her out of the home arena and into worldwide recognition. Indeed, the two-time Academy Award winner (for Best Actress in Sophie's Choice, 1983, and Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Kramer vs. Kramer, 1979) holds the record for the most Academy Award nominations, with an astounding 14 nominations under her belt. Still, her personal life reveals her need for a close relationship so necessary for water signs - she and her husband, sculptor Don Gummer, have been married for 19 years.
Streep's feminine power comes not only from her Cancer placements (Cancer is the Mother archetype), but from her Moon in Taurus. The sensuality and staying power of that earth sign keep her strong and sexy. True to her Taurus Moon, she's also down to earth, unlike the glamorous images of most Hollywood stars - until she's in front of the camera, that is. Then she shines like the luminary she is.
So does one have to have strong earth or Uranus placements to be sexy forever after? Simply put, no. But you'll stand a better chance of staying sexy if you follow Uranus's lead and keep your mind and spirit active. And of course, heeding the earth-sign call of leading an active, healthy lifestyle can't hurt either.
