Believe it or not, most psychics say that they can't give themselves a reading. We are much too emotionally invested in the outcome, our California Psychics tell us, and psychics, just like anyone else seeking life path information, want a broad and honest perspective on what's going on in their lives. So what do they do? They get a psychic reading - from someone else!
There is that old question, psychics often get… If you're such a good psychic why can't you just read yourself? "A great reading calls for a level of detachment,"explains Ami ext. 9522.
Even psychics who have friends or relatives who are also readers, may prefer consulting an intuitive who doesn't have a vested interest in the outcome of their reading. "There's a beautiful logic to the randomness of the information you get from someone who doesn't know you, because in readings, facts aren't always what they seem," Ron ext. 9545 reveals.
Psychics get readings to confirm the information they get for themselves and to expand on what they see or feel, and to pick up on information they might have missed on their own. "I have visions that keep coming to me," tells Bobbi ext. 9465. "After about the third time, I know I need to consult a psychic. I listen to my guides, then pick a reader who has the most experience in what my visions are about."
"I like to get a consensus of several good psychic opinions when I need to make a major decision. It's fun to see what others pick up on in addition to what I'm seeing for myself. I tend to go for clairvoyant, astrological and vibrational readings," says Tammy ext. 9380.
"It's fun to see how different people do spreads and see how they choose to handle the cards. I like to get readings for my birthdays or the new year. It's a way to treat myself to something I like," says Joey ext. 9406, "who also ventures to Salem, MA for the occasional reading. "I'm like a kid in a candy store when I'm there. They always tell me I am psychic, too," she laughs.
"I don't get them often, but when I do, I choose a psychic astrologer because understanding the timing involved in issues is comforting to me," tells Gracie ext. 9317. "When I have a personal crisis I like to get a feeling for when the crisis will end, then work backwards from there. Knowing when a situation will be resolved brings me guidance and understanding."
When it comes to choosing a psychic, the experts pick their readers by referrals, specialty, personality, or intuition, much like the rest of us. "Í usually go with my gut instinct after reading their bio," tells Zach ext. 9550. Or if I'm feeling daring, I will let customer service pick one for me."
"I choose a psychic largely based on referral. If I hear the word 'amazing' I'm pretty sure that reader is someone I want to try," says Tammy. "I like psychics who see details and are highly clairvoyant. Because I read cards, I rarely go to other card readers."
"An objective reader who can give me straight, honest answers is a major godsend. Like many psychics I have a network of psychic friends, astrologers and life coaches who give me readings in exchange for readings. I also have highly intuitive friends who prefer not to be called psychic (dry psychics) who have great insight and worldly wisdom in time of need. In general, I look for wisdom, compassion and experience in a psychic," says Joseph ext. 9153.
"I like a psychic with a sense of humor. I respect honesty, a cheerful voice and a reader who sees the bright sides of things. I ask which Tarot deck they are working with and take notes on where the cards lie in a spread. This way I can compare what they say to my own interpretation of the cards," Katie ext. 9067 reveals.
"The first psychic I ever read with predicted in July that a lamp of mine - that she described in full detail - would short out in December. On Christmas Eve, that lamp started buzzing and smoking and shorted out before my eyes," tells Tammy. "She is still the psychic I measure every other one against. I get an education from her just by getting readings."
"Personally, I adore the experience of getting readings," Ami admits. For a psychic, it's a great opportunity to get out of my own head and release any of those personal perceptions I've locked myself into."
