Some of the most riveting, profound, soul-stirring stories are of psychics describing how they realized their mystical powers. Imagine waking up one morning at the age of 37, sensing that something you could not explain was terribly, terribly wrong with your life. You'd relished some celebrity as a beauty pageant contestant, had a lovely home, a successful job in corporate America, a supportive group of friends and on top of that, you are blessed with good health. Joyce ext. 9598 called in sick on that morning… not knowing what else to do, she allowed the tears that were falling from an unknown source to flow.
"I proceeded to cry for ten days, almost non-stop and it was frightening… believe me. On the eleventh day my tears were gone. I wasn't happy, but no longer did I feel such a depth of sadness. Carol and Debra's visions and visitations frightened their parents, to the point that in Debra's case she left home early.

Verbena, Kali ext. 9576 and Pamela never really considered being a psychic a profession, though all accepted their gifts as normal. Kali's life-threatening health diagnosis caused her to change the course of her career at 36. Pamela ext. 9578 who had only read for friends until she was 28 was asked to do readings for friend's Tupperware parties to help attendance and boost sales. "I decided if I could do this for complete strangers, I could do it for a living."
Verbena ext. 9615 pursued her first career in entertainment public relations even though she had been tapped by her great Aunt Hootie, a well-known channel and healer of her time, as the child who would carry on the family "gift." Aunt Hootie gave Verbena's parents instructions to "raise her right" which they obviously ignored, as the only psychic practice she got as a child was in Ouija board contests with her sister.
In her early thirties, friends talked her into going to a psychic fair where she consulted three psychics - a channel, a card reader and a psychometrist. All three told her the exact same thing, "You're a psychic, healer and a channel." Not one to let grass grow under her feet, she threw herself into metaphysical A-Z courses.
At the conclusion of the crystal healing course, Verbena was to read an old Indian Shaman who literally shut her out as he sat in front of her - even to the point of crossing his arms.
