Hollywood certainly isn't the marriage mecca of the world. It's a culture based on fantasy, which is a wobbly basis for relationship bliss. Still, there are a handful of actor-couples who not only light up the screen with their star power, they've realized that illusive dream we all want: finding true love.

So what's their secret? Let's take a look at the charts of Taylor and Burton, Bogie and Bacall, and Newman and Woodward to see what the cosmos has to say about their destinies as soulmates.

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton
Their passion was as legendary as their fights. Born on November 10, 1925, Burton was known for his sultry charisma onscreen and hard drinking off-screen - oh, so typical of a tumultuous Scorpio. Taylor, a Pisces, was born on February 27, 1932. The pair fell in love during the filming of Cleopatra (1963). Both were married to other people at the time. But the depth of their feelings for each other was impossible to resist, so after divorcing their spouses, they took the plunge and wed in 1964. The marriage lasted 10 years. After getting divorced, they remarried 16 months later. However, the intensity of their fire, so apparent in their chart comparison, was undoubtedly impossible to sustain, so their second attempt at marriage lasted only nine months.

Obviously, this Hollywood couple brought out both the best and worst in each other. The high drama between them was widely publicized, so it's not surprising that the main element between them was water, which caused emotional tidal waves that rocked their relationship. Even so, their Sun-Moon connections indicated a deep male-female sympathy between them. Taylor's Sun, Mercury and Mars in sensitive Pisces, along with her Moon in Scorpio, were right at home with Burton's Sun in Scorpio. You can't get any deeper than that. And the sex! The Scorpio ties made them hot for each other. They intuitively knew what the other wanted between the sheets. Additionally, Burton's Moon in Virgo opposed Taylor's Pisces placements, making them the perfect mirrors for each other.

They were karmically linked as well. Burton's Saturn in Scorpio on Taylor's Moon was a karmic tie that kept them emotionally linked long after their relationship ended. In later years she claimed to have held onto their house in Mexico, in hopes of a reunion for them in their later years. After Burton's death, she sold the property with all it's contents. There's no doubt they were destined to be together.

However, the sting of Scorpio was evident between them as well. Jealously, infidelity and rage can fuel the darker side of the scorpion and challenge even the strongest union (think back to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? which starred, of course, Hollywood's most tempestuous couple). Another challenge was the difference in their love styles. Taylor has Venus in fiery, headstrong Aries, which is conjunct impulsive Uranus. She's open and spontaneous, even reckless (she's been married eight times to seven husbands). Burton's Venus was in cautious, earthy Capricorn. Being slower to show his true feelings, he would have found her wild heart a bit intimidating. Still, although they parted ways, their love was definitely written in the stars.

Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall:
Another Hollywood couple with sizzling chemistry was Bogie and Bacall. They met while filming To Have and Have Not (1945). He was 45 and unhappily married, she was 19 and virginal. Onscreen, their sexual innuendoes revved up the tension in their films. Off-screen, they were falling in love. Bogart received his divorce in 1945, and he and his co-star were married a few months later.

Born on December 25, 1899, Bogart was married to Bacall, his fourth wife, for nearly 12 years until his death at age 57. He had Sun, Venus and Mars in earthy Capricorn, making him practical, stubborn and a bit randy. Bacall was born on September 16, 1924. She's also an Earth sign, having Sun and Mercury in a high-minded Virgo. However, with Uranus opposing her Sun, she has a rebellious, independent streak. She probably butted heads with her husband on a regular basis, which would have added some spice to their relationship - and the bedroom. Earth signs, after all, can get stuck in a rut.

In the boudoir, both Capricorn and Virgo are known for their sensuality, and this couple was no exception, so there was plenty of heat between them. Perhaps more important, despite their age difference, they were comfortable with each other, which is important for an Earth-sign relationship.

Emotionally, Bogart had Moon in peace-loving Libra. Depending on her time of birth, Bacall has Moon in impulsive Aries (which would make her and Bogart opposites emotionally) or in Taurus, another Earth sign (which would have enhanced their compatibility). Bogart had Venus in Capricorn (like Burton), so he had a cautious side when it came to love. Bacall has Venus in warm-hearted, open Leo, which seemed to clash with Bogart's love style. However, a Venus-Saturn square in her chart gives her love nature a more serious cast. All in all, they were well matched in many ways. (Interestingly, Capricorn, the sign of longevity, plays an important role in our next Hollywood couple as well . . .)

Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward
One of the most successful marriages in Hollywood (or anywhere, really!) is that of Newman and Woodward. They were married on January 29, 1958. That's 50 years. A Hollywood miracle. But it's all spelled out in their chart comparison - they have the ultimate planetary link for compatibility: each has their Sun sign in the same sign as the other's Moon (like Taylor's Moon in Scorpio on Burton's Sun). Born on January 26, 1925, Newman has Sun in Aquarius and Moon in Pisces. His wife is the reverse: born on February 27, 1930, she has Sun in Pisces and Moon in Aquarius. Their complementary Sun and Moon signs give them a near-perfect understanding of each other. It's the ultimate male-female merger and one of the best indicators for a solid marriage.

Additionally, Woodward's Venus in Pisces is conjunct her husband's Moon, a true-love tie. And her Mercury and Mars in Aquarius on his Sun indicate there's plenty of both communication (Mercury) and passion (Mars) to keep things interesting between them. What's more - and here's where steady Capricorn come in - Newman has Venus, Mercury and Jupiter in Capricorn - all conjunct his wife's Saturn. They'll not be parting ways anytime soon.

Whether it lasts for a year or a lifetime, just remember, true love is always the ultimate blessing!
