Can you imagine being a young child who sees auras, predicts events, receives visions or speaks to people that no one else seems to see? Sometimes a young intuitive's talents are accepted and encouraged by their family, while others learn to suppress their gifts to allay their parent's fears and prejudices. In any case, it's always fascinating to find out how our psychics first recognized their abilities, as well as how they learned to make the most of them.

Oddly enough, Paisley ext. 9661, one of our newest readers has a rare story in that she didn't have a clue that she was psychic until she was 48 - which proves it's never too late to try something new. The Clairvoyant and Medium says that working on her natural abilities, trusting them and allowing her psychic future to unfold later in life, has been a "grand adventure."
As a result, she's traveled and met people from different cultures, expanding her life in a way she never even imagined. Her psychic story begins in 2000, when on a lark, she attended her first all-day past life workshop with a well-known spiritual counselor. The class was asked to try psychometry (when you read an object).
Paisley's reading was detailed and accurate, "It was like watching a weird movie," she recalls. "I just closed my eyes and went with whatever popped into my head." Just by holding another woman's ring, she was able to reduce the owner to tears with the details of her travels and the last words of the friend who had given this woman the ring.
Since then, Paisley learned from a close family friend that she had been an usual child who "knew things." "Apparently I scared and embarrassed my parents, so I learned to suppress my feelings," she surmises. Plus, she found out after her mother passed in 2005, that she had inherited her abilities from her mother's side of the family!
Unlike Paisley, early psychic abilities were encouraged and discussed among family members, say psychics Tracy, Haven and Violet.
"I was assured by my mother and grandmother to believe that anything is possible, Tracy, a third generation psychic, shares about her early life. "It was normal for me to see auras and have conversations with angels and spirits. I remember knowing things." She didn't fully understand how or why she could do these things, Tracy explains, but she did know that she felt an incredible connection with the universe.
"I told my grandmothers how I would see or feel unusual things, and they told me that I was being trained by spirit guides to be psychic," Violet a Clairvoyant Tarot reader who does past life regressions shares. She could hear high pitched words when she felt a presence around her. "Both of my grandmothers were psychic and helped me understand what a great gift I had inherited. Everyone has a purpose in life," they said, "and mine was to help people by telling them what their future might hold."
Even though Haven's mother did not use her own intuitive gifts, her mother would let her "jabber" on about her visions, senses, premonitions and dreams. "One weekend when I was small we had three deaths strike our family in one weekend," the Clairvoyant and Medium who has been using her skills professionally for 15 years, reveals. "We received a phone call notifying us of each occurrence. Each time the phone rang I knew who it was and why they were calling, before anyone picked it up. By the end of the weekend, my mom looked at me to see if I had anything to say before answering the phone. And my dad looked at me as if I had too heads!"
Each of these psychics moved on to study and perfect their gift with the feeling that pursing this path was what they were meant to do. After Paisley's workshop experience she was immediately encouraged to develop her skills - and she did, eventually becoming a master Shaman and sage. She continues to take courses and workshops with many well-known spiritual teachers.
Though Tracey always knew she was meant to "make a difference" in the world, she initially went to college to get a degree in education. It wasn't until she was 20 that she added her spiritual study. "I wanted to look at all belief systems so that I could fully understand the world in which we live." She spent eight years with one spiritual teacher and then moved on to work with a shamanic healer, who helped her find the harmony in her own life. Like many psychics, her first readings were for family and friends.
"As I learned how to use my gift, I became aware of the responsibility that comes with this knowledge. My words directly affect other's lives and it's important for me to be sensitive and honest," Tracy explains.
Each of the four new psychics agree, that even though it's not always easy doing what they do (the work can be draining), they feel a great sense of purpose in their career choice. Haven sums up her past, present and future as a psychic with these words, "I have taken my heritage, my gifts, my background and life experiences and brought them together to create a solid practice of service, spirituality and psychic insight for my clients in the present and in the many years to come."
